Cloak of the Light is one part high school, two parts literal spiritual battle. Chuck Black is a very good writer, and while this book may not have been my particular cup of tea, it might be for you.
Our main character is Drew Carter. The first portion of the book focuses on building a background for him in his family, with high school, tragedies, and friendships. It goes on a bit longer than I would have liked before the high-stakes part of the book comes into play, but I understand the need for the history. His friend Ben is a very easy-to-love character and I particularly enjoyed him.
If you enjoy a high-octane book of the religious nature and don't mind flashing back to your high school years, pick this up!
I received this book for free from Blogging for Books for this review.
