Amerman creates a distinct universe of ground level advancements, custom guns, and a "Malady Unknown." At every turn, there are risks to the characters. It really kept me glued to the page. Sky1: Foundation is set in a post-apocalyptic era, where the only way to survive a quarantine is to move to a higher ground level. Those higher levels are guarded, however, and there is great danger with attempting to immigrate.
Each character is very complex and therefore easy to imagine and relate to. As they are written, they become real. The first page sets the perfect tone for a passageway into the universe you will enter when reading. It's dark, but only in the most fascinating and truth-apocalyptic sense.
The warehouse locations and immigration fences can be somewhat confusing to keep track of and my only wish for the book is that it would have a map included in the book to chart the immigration plans.
I would say more, but I hope you download a copy for yourself. It doesn't disappoint.
